Effects of a Clean Office Environment
Studies show that there is a direct correlation between a clean environment to an individual’s state of mind and that a range of attitudes and emotions are drawn out from an individual who stays in a clean and well-organized environment and from the same individual who is in an unhygienic place, such that the individual functions well and better motivated when he/she is in a clean and comfortable environment.
Effect of reducing stress in a clean office
An unkempt office place reflects a messy work space, unclean, and unsanitary, which is detrimental to the well-being of the workers, as well as the added stress it imposes on them to do work in a distressing work space; therefore, this just demonstrates that the environment has a strong effect on an individual’s state of mind, so if the office is clean and everything in it is well-organized, it has a positive effect on the mental state of people working in that kind of office, because there is less stress produced from an improved and tidy office where workers do not worry about getting ill, since bacteria cannot live in a clean environment, and where the mood of the place radiates clean living, enjoyable and comfortable work surrounding.
Clean office, increased efficiency
Workers will just focus more on their work assignments, if their office is clean and organized, thereby, optimizing the time to produce efficient outputs and become more productive; while an unclean office environment leads to inefficient workers, as it will take time for their mental state of mind to focus on their work since the kind of work environment has already bothered their mind state and, therefore, they become unproductive with less work output produced.
A clean office improves physical health
Having a comfortable, clean, organized, and well-ventilated office space helps to preserve one’s energy, allows thoughts to be organized, better working condition, creates an atmosphere of working harmoniously with others and with better communication, lifts the spirit of well-being among workers, as compared to an office that is untidy and unkempt, where workers have to sit for long hours, immobilized due to the unclean condition, and recent studies have shown that sitting at long hours can contribute to ill-health such as increase blood pressure, risks of diabetes, obesity, depression, certain types of cancer, that’s why some companies have taken the initiative to encourage their office workers to be more mobile than sitting more than 6 hours on their chairs.
A company must be able to maintain a positive impact on its over-all appearance and good impression to their customers so they will have the notion that this company is trustworthy and professionally managed; therefore, this goal can begin with by having a clean office environment.
